The collaborating Schools are committed to the continuous enhancement of their human resources and to strengthening both education and research. To achieve these objectives, they implement quality assurance procedures for academic and other staff.
In summary, the evaluation for the appointment or promotion of members of the Teaching and Research Staff (TRS) is based on their overall teaching and research performance. This includes the assessment of teaching effectiveness, scientific and research activity—particularly at the international level—as well as contributions to knowledge transfer and innovation. Such contributions are reflected in indicators such as patents, participation in research outcomes leading to the establishment of spin-off companies, involvement in such enterprises, the attraction of research funding, and recognized societal engagement. The academic integrity and professional ethos of the candidate are also considered essential elements of their overall profile.
Similar criteria apply to the selection of additional academic personnel, including doctoral and postdoctoral researchers employed under contract, in accordance with the provisions governing equivalent positions in the Greek-taught undergraduate programs of the Schools.
The teaching staff possess the expertise and capability to effectively deliver courses within the Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English (JEUPS), as demonstrated through their academic profiles and experience. Each member holds strong academic credentials in their respective fields, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Beyond academic qualifications, staff members often have substantial practical experience from sectors relevant to their disciplines. They are committed to staying up to date with the latest developments and trends, ensuring that students receive cutting-edge knowledge and skills. They are also experienced in facilitating interactive classroom discussions, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging students to apply their learning to real-world contexts. Overall, the academic staff are well equipped to teach and mentor students, supporting them in achieving their academic and professional goals.
The Schools actively promote academic development by encouraging the adoption of innovative teaching methods and the use of new technologies. They provide opportunities for academic mobility and professional development through study leave and training at universities and research centers worldwide. Research activity is further supported through the development of infrastructure, the provision of modern equipment, and assistance in securing competitive national and international research funding. At the same time, collaboration with international faculty members is encouraged at both teaching and research levels. Academic staff also demonstrate strong mobility through participation in national and international conferences, for which no formal leave is required.
These initiatives strengthen the integration of teaching and research, while also supporting the scientific and professional advancement of staff. Both Schools encourage the professional and academic development of their personnel by facilitating access to various types of leave through efficient and streamlined procedures, in accordance with applicable legislation.
The Schools collaborate in staff support and development with the Teaching and Learning Support Center (KEDIMA) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The Center provides support to study programs— including English-taught programs—particularly in the effective use of new technologies in teaching, while also ensuring accessibility for students with disabilities. It works closely with academic staff, students, and various administrative units of the University (such as the General Directorate of Technical Services and Computerisation, the e-Governance Center, and the Library and Information Center) to enhance teaching practices and propose effective solutions to emerging challenges.
The Schools’ initiatives are further strengthened by the active participation of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in international networks and programs, including EPICUR, Erasmus Staff Training, Erasmus+, Erasmus International, Erasmus Mundus, the Utrecht Network, and the European University Foundation, as well as numerous other international organizations and associations. These collaborations provide academic staff with opportunities for international mobility in teaching, research, and training, contributing to their continuous professional development and awareness of global academic developments.
