QUALITY POLICY

The Quality Assurance Policy of the lead School of Agriculture and the collaborating School of Chemistry for the English-taught study programs is fully aligned with the Quality Policy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as approved by the University Senate, and reflects its core values.

The Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the quality of their teaching, research, and administrative activities through the continuous improvement of all their functions and with the active participation of the entire academic community. In addition, they ensure the inclusion and support of a multicultural student body, providing equal opportunities for access and academic success to students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Policies are implemented to facilitate the integration of international students into both the academic and social environment of the University.

The Schools organize and deliver a Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English (JEUPS) of high academic standards, oriented towards contemporary scientific, societal, and professional demands, thereby strengthening their international academic profile. At the same time, they are committed to fostering a creative, outward-looking, and multicultural learning and research environment for students, as well as a supportive and innovative working environment for academic, research, and administrative staff. The teaching staff are highly proficient in the language of instruction and possess experience in international academic settings, enabling them to effectively support education in a multicultural classroom. Teaching follows modern pedagogical practices that enhance student understanding and learning, while also addressing the specific needs of international students.

Quality is recognized as a fundamental element for achieving the vision and mission of the Schools and the JEUPS. For this reason, cultivating and embedding a culture of quality at all levels of operation is considered essential.

Implementation of the Quality Policy – Quality Assurance

The lead School of Agriculture, the School of Chemistry, and the Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Science are committed to implementing a Quality Policy that:

  • strengthens the academic identity and international orientation of the Curriculum,
  • promotes the purpose, scope, and strategic objectives of the Program,
  • defines the means, actions, and procedures for achieving these objectives,
  • ensures the participation of all stakeholders (students, lecturers, alumni, and social and professional bodies),
  • promotes mobility and collaboration with international organizations, enhancing its global dimension,
  • implements appropriate internal and external quality assurance procedures aimed at continuous improvement.

Furthermore, the Schools are committed to fostering a climate of communication, cooperation, and transparency among all members of the academic community.

The JEUPS applies the established quality assurance procedures of the Quality Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP). These procedures constitute a key tool for the organization, implementation, monitoring, and continuous enhancement of the educational activities of the Program.

Quality Assurance Procedures

To implement the Quality Policy, the Schools and the Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English are committed to applying procedures that ensure and document:

  • the appropriateness of the structure, organization, and content of the Curriculum,
  • the clear formulation and achievement of learning outcomes, in alignment with the European and National Qualifications Frameworks for Higher Education,
  • the quality and effectiveness of teaching,
  • the adequacy and suitability of the qualifications of the teaching staff,
  • the development, implementation, and review of annual quality objectives,
  • the relevance of acquired knowledge and skills to the labor market and the international academic environment,
  • the quality of student support services,
  • the efficient and effective use of available resources,
  • the conduct of annual internal evaluation and review of the Program in cooperation with the Internal Evaluation Group and the Quality Assurance Unit.

Monitoring and continuous improvement procedures include, indicatively:

  • periodic review and revision of the Quality Policy,
  • design and updating of the Curriculum in accordance with current legislation and University regulations,
  • implementation of Study Regulations and relevant regulatory decisions,
  • evaluation of courses and lecturers by students,
  • the use of diverse and reliable student assessment methods,
  • monitoring of graduate progress and employability,
  • collection, analysis, and utilization of quantitative and qualitative quality data,
  • benchmarking against national and international indicators,
  • transparency and publication of Program-related information,
  • regular and high-quality updating of the Program website (in English and, where appropriate, in other languages),
  • support of external evaluation and accreditation procedures.

Quality Objectives

The main quality objectives of the Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Science include:

  • continuous enhancement of teaching quality and the learning experience through modern pedagogical methods, innovative technologies, and systematic evaluation of teaching,
  • clear definition, monitoring, and achievement of measurable learning outcomes aligned with the European and National Qualifications Frameworks for Higher Education,
  • strengthening internationalization and outward orientation through the attraction of international students, the development of collaborations with universities and research institutions abroad, and the promotion of academic mobility,
  • linking studies with the labor market and international developments in the agri-food sector, with emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship,
  • continuous improvement of student support services, particularly for international students, to ensure their smooth academic and social integration,
  • ensuring the adequacy and excellence of human resources through training and support of academic and administrative staff,
  • efficient and transparent management of available resources for the optimal support of the Program’s educational and research activities,
  • fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement through annual target setting, systematic data collection and analysis, and the use of internal and external evaluation results.

Publication

The Quality Policy is communicated and disseminated to academic and administrative staff, students, and all relevant stakeholders. It is available in both Greek and English and is published on the website of the Joint Undergraduate Program of Studies in English. The Program follows best practices in transparency by providing comprehensive information to an international audience through its official website.
