Careers & Graduates
The Interdepartmental English-Taught Undergraduate Programme “Sustainable Agriculture and Food Science” leads to the award of an Integrated Master’s degree (300 ECTS, Level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework). This degree is equivalent to the five-year Integrated Master qualifications awarded by Greek-language programmes at Agricultural Departments of Greek universities and by corresponding institutions abroad, and equips graduates with both the academic and professional foundations required for careers in fields that demand well-grounded expertise in agricultural science.
Professional Rights
The degree awarded by the Programme provides access, subject to applicable conditions, to the professional rights of an Agronomist (Γεωπόνος) in Greece and abroad, in accordance with the Programme’s founding Senate Decision of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In Greece, the practice of the agronomist profession is regulated by the legislation governing Geotechnical Scientists. Graduates who wish to practise a regulated profession in Greece are advised to contact the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece (GEWOTEE / ΓΕΩΤΕΕ) for information on the current requirements for registration and licensing.
For the recognition of professional qualifications within the European Union, Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications, as amended, applies. For countries outside the EU, recognition procedures vary by jurisdiction.
