Initially founded as a Faculty of Agriculture in 1928, it acquired its present status as School of Agriculture in 2005.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u03a4\u03bc\u03ae\u03bc\u03b1 \u0393\u03b5\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd\u03af\u03b1\u03c2 \u0391\u03a0\u0398 - School of Agriculture AUTH\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-LuM6JOwMks?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/homepage\/\">School of Agriculture<\/a>, with its thriving educational and research activity has contributed significantly to both national economy and rural development of Greece, as well as to the agricultural sciences and technology worldwide. The School consists of seven <strong>Departments<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/field-crops-and-ecology\/\">Field Crops and Ecology<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/horticulture-and-viticulture\/\">Horticulture and Viticulture<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/plant-protection\/\">Plant Protection<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/animal-production\/\">Animal Production<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/Food Science and Technology\">Food Science and Technology<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/agricultural-economics\/\">Agricultural Economics<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/departments\/tomeas-engeion-veltioseon-edafologias-kai-georgikis-michanikis-ev\/\">Hydraulics, Soil Science and Agricultural Engineering<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agro.auth.gr\/en\/departments\/laboratory-of-informatics-in-agriculture\/\">Laboratory of Informatics in Agriculture<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Buildings and facilities<\/h3>\n<p>The buildings and facilities of the School of Agriculture are located on the University Campus and at the Aristotle University Farm. The University Campus building is one of the first buildings constructed to meet the needs of our University. The building consists of three internally connected wings, the middle one of which houses its four lecture halls. Three other classrooms and a common exercise room located in the other two wings cover the teaching needs of the students of the two Schools of the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment housed in the same building. There are also many laboratory rooms for students with modern laboratory equipment, which is constantly being upgraded with the purchase of new instruments.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1202 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/safs.auth.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/469\/2026\/04\/lab-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The Farm for the activities of the School of Agriculture<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agroctima.auth.gr\/en\/\">Farm<\/a> is the fundamental physical and functional space of the School, contributing significantly to education, research, and innovation across the entire agri-food chain. Through the systematic and continuous support of the educational process and applied research, the Farm operates as a living laboratory. Students and researchers combine theoretical knowledge, technological applications, and sustainable practices to promote sustainable agriculture, livestock farming, and food production. The University Farm is located at the eastern exit of the city, in the area of \u201cMacedonia\u201d Airport. It covers an area of approximately 1,80 hectares and is the natural home of the School of Agriculture, as it is where the laboratory exercises for most courses and almost all the experimental work for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral theses.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1199 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/safs.auth.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/469\/2026\/04\/farm-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Library<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.auth.gr\/en\/b007\">Library of Agriculture<\/a> began its operation in September 1994. It has a rich collection of books and magazines covering all fields of Agricultural Science (plant Production, Animal Production, Food Science and Technology, Hydraulics, Soil and Agricultural Mechanics, Plant and Entomology, Physiology and Genetic Plants, Rural Economy). In the Library, there are also textbooks, reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias, guides, etc.), FAO publications, postgraduate and doctoral theses awarded since 1991.<\/p>\n<h3>Computer Labs<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">The main computer lab of the Department of Agriculture is located within the Department&#8217;s Library and operates under the auspices of the Informatics in Agriculture Laboratory. It occupies a dedicated room of 50 m\u00b2, equipped with 21 workstations connected to the AUTh network, projection equipment and air conditioning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">In addition, the Informatics in Agriculture Laboratory operates a second computer lab at the AUTh Farm (stone building), spread across two rooms with a combined area of 60 m\u00b2, also fully equipped and connected to the AUTh network.<\/p>\n<h2>School of Chemistry<\/h2>\n<p>The Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was established in 1943 and is one of the oldest and most distinguished natural science departments in Greece.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u03a4\u03bc\u03ae\u03bc\u03b1 \u03a7\u03b7\u03bc\u03b5\u03af\u03b1\u03c2, \u0391\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c4\u03ad\u03bb\u03b5\u03b9\u03bf \u03a0\u03b1\u03bd\u03b5\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03bc\u03b9\u03bf \u0398\u03b5\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u03bd\u03af\u03ba\u03b7\u03c2\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ueG4wNIq8Ek?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It is currently organised into four Sections covering the full range of chemistry disciplines:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chem.auth.gr\/en\/departments-laboratories\/gax-dep-en\/\">General and Inorganic Chemistry<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chem.auth.gr\/en\/departments-laboratories\/ocb-dep-en\/\">Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chem.auth.gr\/en\/departments-laboratories\/fapx-dep-en\/\">Physical, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chem.auth.gr\/en\/departments-laboratories\/xtbx-dep-en\/\">Chemical Technology and Industrial Chemistry.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Department is housed in two buildings on the university campus, the main Chemistry Building and its new wing, and is equipped with modern laboratory facilities, lecture theatres and teaching rooms.
